A Day in My Life

A day in the Life

“A Day in My Life”

“The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today.” -H. Jackson Brown, Jr

Today I’m sharing what my typical day in my life is like. I’m not so perfect or completely recovered from burnout, but what I want to focus on today is: if you want your day to go right, there are certain goals or certain processes that are important.

And in the way I construct my days it all kind of revolves around five or six different things:

  Eat well:

As far as eating well, I try to have more of a low carb diet for many different reasons. One of them is for from a cancer treatment standpoint for family members.

  • Keep to a regular eating schedule
  • Eat together as a family most days of the week
  • Eat before you get too hungry
  • Make sure every family member eats breakfast every day
  • Drink water before a meal
  • Stop eating when you’re full

Exercise:

Exercise everyday, whatever that is. Some days, we go for a hike. Some days it is cycling or elliptical, some days it is weight training, and some days it’s pilates, or it’s yoga. I think about what’s important for you to think about is what’s going to move the needle and be impactful for you.

Learn:

I think that learning is an important component as well. I think meditation is very good for having your mind take care of yourself. I try to read keep up on my journal. I started doing a crossword puzzle on a daily basis, which is maddening, but it helps keep my brain turning from mush. I’ve recently gotten into some of this crypto market, because I think that’s something that’s new and interesting to me, and also helps, again, help me learn about new things.

Be together:

By being together well I mean like, when you’re with family members, friends, coworkers patients, you know, be present. Do a good job of being together when you’re together with others. And that’s something that I still work on on a daily basis. It’s very important to me and it’s a high priority for me.

Prepare and repair:

I feel like you should look ahead for the next day, week, month, and prepare for what’s going on. Get yourself,  your body, and your mind ready. Then repair, you know, make sure that you’re getting plenty of sleep and rest, which I think is critical because that’s actually when your brain recovers that’s when muscle and tissues rebuild.

So I think it’s very important to think of all of those things in a typical day, and how you’re going to attack those things to live a good useful, productive life for you, for whatever those priorities are for you.

Those are the priorities for me and that’s a typical day in my life. I hope you find this helpful, and hope that helps get you on the path to burnout recovery as well!
